Your contraceptive has almost expired!
Time flies! We have sent you an SMS to let you know that your Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC for short!) is due for removal.
There are three types of LARC that we use at Wellness on Wellington:
- Implanon – the plastic rod in your arm that lasts 3 years
- Mirena – the hormone IUD that lasts 5 years
- Copper IUDs – which last 5 – 10 years depending on brand and size.
The LARC we gave you has almost expired. You can check the card we gave you for the exact date or ring the surgery.
Please note that you will no longer have contraceptive cover after this date.
Please make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your contraceptive options, before the time due for removal. You can call us on 9780 8900.
One option may be to replace the old LARC with a new one. There are many other options also, including new forms of the pill; other forms of contraception like Nuvaring and (if you are certain that you have completed your family) sterilisation such as vasectomy. All these methods are available at the clinic but require different assessment and information visits. Please ask reception staff about the procedure for these appointments.
If you have had your LARC removed by another doctor, could you please ring and let us know, so that we can update our records.
